| <p>When I saw John’s painting the bright swirls immediately reminded me of another astronomical painting, [http://www.vangoghgallery.com/catalog/Painting/508/Starry-Night.html Starry Night] by Vincent van Gogh. The blues are reminescent of van Gogh’s colors and the roundness of the craters, with their shimmering rims, is like his stars in the sky. And of course, the brightest object in Vincent’s painting is a crescent Moon.
