Extreme Behavior And Three Towers

On Saturday Sept 10, 2011 one tower rose upward on a column of fire. Ten years earlier two towers collapsed with fires shooting out their middles. These events mark two opposite extremes of human passion, commitment and achievement. Maria Zuber and her team of scientists and engineers who built the GRAIL spacecraft and in a few months will analyze new data about the lunar interior are brilliant examples of a human triumph stemming from passion, commitment and achievement. The 19 men who flew airplanes into the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and a field in Pennsylvania are representative of too many episodes of human history where hatred, obsession and righteousness brought death and destruction to innocents. It is remarkable that such extremes of convictions are manifest within one species. Why can't we make a world where everyone dreams and works to improve human good and understanding? Have a peaceful and safe day of remembrance and dreaming of a future to be proud of.
