Much of my career has focused on the science of the Moon, but I have never forgotten the beauty of it, especially in everyday life as illustrated in this evocative image by Göran. The Moon is visible in the sky sometime during nearly every day. To me it is always a pleasant surprise when the Moon is unexpectedly glimpsed while I walk, drive or fly somewhere. The Moon is there, like a faithful friend, always waiting for your attention. I hope you will continue to be delighted by it, especially now that it is a place with a  geography and history that you are intimate with. <br />

Chuck Wood
The next 31 days will feature great LPODs selected from each of the last 11 years.
