Obama Moon

LPOD-Jan20-09.jpg

south up image by Daniel Chang

What lunar feature is appropriate to honor our new president? There are no craters named Obama so I propose to offer him the whole Moon. It is a great present, the emperor of the night sky, and a faithful guide when times seem dark. The Moon is physically not like our world, but it teaches us that understanding requires looking closely at all the relevant parts. And the Moon, like Obama, is an inspiration. I hope the Moon shines brightly the next four years.
