The End of the World

image by " rel="nofollow Chris Kotsiopoulos, Temple of Poseidon at Sounio, Greece

We pleasantly fool ourselves all the time. Chris does it here with a 600 mm telephoto lens/telescope that enlarges the Sun in a preview of an early phase of its red giant stage. By then the vegetation, here blowing in the wind, will be burned away, ice caps will melt and oceans, until vaporized, will cover lowlands everywhere. Hilltops, as at Sounio will be isolated islands, making punctuation marks in the seas. But I am tired, so finish this story yourself or just enjoy the golden glow of impending doom, about 50 billion lunations from now.
