Tasmanian Moon

LPOD-Aug22-12.jpg
image by Muhammad Akbar Hussain, Tasmania, Australia

I took this picture of new crescent as it appeared over Tasmanian western horizon at dusk hour on 18th August 2012. I have taken this picture using Skywatcher 8" Dobsonian with Sony Ericsson C-902 5mp mobile phone camera. The age of moon is around 15h 36mins (?) at 1816 AEST.

Chuck Wood
Note from CAW: I like this image for two reasons - it shows how easy it is to snap a picture of the Moon just by holding a smartphone up to an eyepiece, and it is - I think - the first LPOD from Tasmania.
