Land Lost in Time

I love good images showing areas of the Moon that aren't easily recognized. It is simple to find such views within the extreme closeups from LRO or bigger areas from much of the farside, but Stefan's photo is an area of the nearside that observers probably overlook monthly. It is an area of jumbled highlands with small leaks of maria - none very dark. There is no large or prominent crater - excepting the one in shadow on the right - to anchor the scene. The upper left to bottom right elongation suggests that this is in the northeast quadrant of the Moon, unless south is up or the image accidently got flipped so east and west were reversed; I couldn't say. But enjoy the fresh-ish crater at bottom left which slices through an unfortunate predecessor, the drop off with lava filling the lower land at bottom center, and the hints of radial features at upper left. Or maybe is this Mercury - no, its not April 1.
