Night Lights

LPOD-Feb20-10.jpg

In this lovely scene of Lisbon taken 17 February 2010, we can enjoy the path of the crescent moon until the moon sets behind the great 25 April Bridge (Ponte 25 de Abril) that connects the south edge of Lisbon, Almada at the left side to the Capital of Portugal, Lisbon, at right. As you can see in the image we have a lot of activity in the sky with many aircraft crossing the heavens enroute to the Lisbon airport, one of these turned on the landing lights in the moment of his passing near the Moon, making an intersting drawing in the sky. But the activity also includes the path of a ship that can be seen along the horizon line through the Tagus River, near the port of Lisbon, in direction of the Altantic Ocean, and the path of many stars from the Andromeda constellation, as well Pegasus and Aries.

Technical Details
To record the motion, I registered with my Canon 50D, 111 images, each of 30 seconds exposure, with an aperture F-5, ISO 125 with a Sigma HSM
EX 15mm lens. Later, I combined them all manually, in Photoshop CS3 to produce a single image with the path of the Moon, stars, aircrafts and boats.
The photograph has a total exposure time of 60 minutes, having started at 20:29 and ended at 21:30.
