Mirageful Moonset

SETTINGMOON-lpod.jpg
images by Mila Zinkova, San Francisco, California

Today I went to see the Moonset. Exactly as the Sun usually does, the Moon was changing shapes as she was about to disappear behind the horizon. The Moon’s shapes were anything but round due to the mock mirage, which is common in San Francisco. Of course the Moon color looked like the total lunar eclipse was back.

Sept 26, 2007. Confession by CAW: I enhanced the images to bring out more of the lower limb distortions.
