An Inconvenient Beauty

LPOD-Mar19-12.jpg

Why do we insist on taking photos of earthy landscapes combined with the full Moon? There are other Moon phases that deserve our attention too. If you don’t believe me, have a look at this last quarter Moon combined with the temple of Poseidon at Sounio Greece. Maybe it has to do with timing. The full Moon always rises approximately during the sunset where the natural lighting is ideal to combine the landscape with the bright Moon. When I took this photo I was solely dependent on the artificial lighting of the archeological site. On the other hand, shooting during the afternoon is just convenient. For this photo, I had to stay awake until 02:00 a.m. Then I drove about an hour to my home at Athens and finally fell asleep at 04:00 a.m. Well... Enough said. Just enjoy the moonrise!
