Einstein Times Two

LPOD-Aug6-08.jpg

I did not realize that Einstein A was visible with overhead illumination until I was studying and labeling a recent photo of western Procellarum. I looked at features west of Krafft and noted the bright rim and wondered what it was. After comparing with the Virtual Moon Atlas and Rukl's Atlas of the Moon it became obvious that it was Einstein A. The area around it is Einstein, of course, but its rim is not readily visible. A bright albedo feature to the north of the crater corresponds to the rayed crater, Einstein/Balboa listed on The-Moon Wiki rayed craters list that was mentioned in the July 30, 2008 LPOD. Always something interesting to discover (rediscover?) on the margins of the Moon.
