Greek Moon
image by George Tarsoudis, Alexandroupolis, Greece
Today George is giving a talk about the Moon to children and adults in his hometown of Alexandroupolis, Greece. He will give this map to all who attend, marking in Greek the Apollo landing sites, and in English, others. I know that a number of lunar aficionados make presentations about the Moon, including Howard in Florida, Bill in Ohio, and probably dozens or even hundreds of others in our international LPOD family. I used to do a lot, and now only a few, but I always consider it important, to help normal people, unlike us lunatics, to understand the beauty and scientific bounty we have in the Moon. I am always amazed that there are millions of bird watchers on the planet but far fewer with a guide book and binoculars to point at the Moon. Hopefully, George will ignite a passion for the Moon this evening that will guide some students to become scientists and more adults to be more scientifically literate citizens.
