Here's a nice image of the southern part of the Herigonius rille (looking south).
It's amazing that as the rille exits the pillars that it goes over the end of the hills rather than around them. The thing that is amazing is that the hills were there before the rille formed!
A classic Apollo mosaic - I think it may have been an LPOD too. Agree about the amazement of cutting the hill - I have no significant understanding of how/why.
